About the Department:
The department offers post-graduation in Microbiology, under the umbrella of Davangere University Central Campus, Shivagangothri, Davangere. It is one of the oldest established department in the campus started by Kuvempu University in the academic year 1993-94. Students who have passed degree in biological science are eligible for admission. Post-graduation course covers both basic and applied aspects of Microbiology like Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Microbial diversity, Physiology, Genetics, Environmental Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Agricultural Microbiology, Phytopathology, Food Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, and Biotechnology. The department is having state of the art well equipped laboratory with four professors and one assistant professor. The professors are having average 25 years of experience in the field of microbiology to cater quality education to the student. The department is having good alumini association to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The department also offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. Progrmme in Microbiology..
. The department has established MoU with institutes, industries and universities of national and international reputed and excellent industries and institutions to promote student exchange and collaborative research in various streams of Microbiology. The department had received research grant from national and state funding agencies and efficiently integrating many projects related to various disciplines of microbiology.
