To instill quality knowledge based Higher education a plan of action for evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have proposed that every higher education institution should have their Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a pre and post-accreditation quality maintenance measure. As quality enhancement is a rigorous, meticulous and continuous process, the IQAC therefore become an integral university system. And work towards realization of Mission and Vision of the University along with quality enhancement and sustenance. The objective of the IQAC is to develop and promote a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement of human resource and the facilities to enhance radical improvement of the University. To realize this, during the post-accreditation period, the cell works towards promotion of overall university excellence.

The proper planed guidelines will facilitated the university in creation and operation of IQAC. The major task of IQAC is to internalize and institutionalize quality enhancement initiatives it success depends on the commitment, sense of belongingness and participation in upliftment of values and academic performance. IQAC shall not at yet another hierarchical structure or record maintenance section but, a facilitative and participatory system of the University. It needs to be potential to become a vehicle for ushering in quality enhancement by planning distinct methods to overcome lacuna and enhance quality in terms of quality education, research, lab to land exercises, Community services through village adoption, academic – industry interaction.


I. To understand the strength and weakness of academic and research processes in various departments, and allied sections of the University and the need to realize the quality in Higher education system
II. To practice quality in teaching-learning processes, research work in addition to administrative and supportive system.
III. To uplift the excellence in quality academic and research outputs and to provide required quality knowledge to the society.


• Main aim is to adopt a system of quality for conscious, consistent and catalytic plan of action to improve the academic, research and administrative performance of the University;
• To take steps for institutional functioning by quality enhancement through internalization of quality and institutionalization of healthy and best practices.


As per the mandate, IQAC of Davangere University has recognized six criteria and prepared a format for conducting the academic audit based on these criteria.

The department of studies/ schools/faculty shall conduct by assimilating information regarding the academic activities in the departments as per the stipulated format. The audit is conducted at each department with the help of external experts of within and outside the state. The peer team would visit the department and for physical verification of the processes, documents, and facilities. Each team critically reviews the academic processes in the departments and their observations and suggestions for implementing necessary corrective measures would help the university to reach its target.


• Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of Research, academic, administrative and financial tasks
• The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes
• Equitable access and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of the society
• Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching research and learning
• The credibility of evaluation procedures
• Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and additional services;
• Collaboration and Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions universities in India and abroad.


• Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for the various academic research and administrative activities of the University
• Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive for quality education and faculty develop to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
• Arrangement for feedback responses from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality related institutional processes
• Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education
• Organization of inter and intra University workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles among faculty and students
• Documentation of the various programmes/activities of the University, leading to quality improvement and for retrospective analysis
• Acting as a nodal agency of the University for coordinating quality-related activities, especially in adoption and dissemination of good practices
• Development and maintenance of Institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining/enhancing the institutional quality
• Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the University based on the quality parameters/assessment criteria developed by the relevant quality assurance body (like NAAC, NBA, AB) in the prescribed format
• Bi-annual development of Quality Radars (QRs) and Ranking of Integral Units of HEIs based on the AQAR
• Interaction with SQACs in the pre and post accreditation quality assessment, sustenance and enhancement endeavors.


• AQAR shall be approved by the statutory bodies of the University (such as Syndicate, Governing Council/Board) for the follow up action for necessary quality enhancement measures
• The University shall regularly submit the AQARs to the NAAC/other accreditation bodies.
• The Universities shall submit AQARs and/or Quality Radars (QRs) and follow up reports of AQARs to the UGC.
• IQAC must create its exclusive window on University website, to regularly report on its activities, as well as for hosting the AQAR.


• Ensure heightened level of clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement and to adopt a dynamic system
• Internalization of the quality culture in the university Enhancement and integration among the various activities of the institution and institutionalize good practices
• Obtaining a strong basis for decision-making to improve institutional functioning
• Build an organized methodology of documentation and internal communication with a vibrant internal communication.

Awards and Recognition

The University is planning to institute “Distinguished Young Faculty Award” and “Distinguished Research Award” for recognizing the faculty members and research scholars respectively of the University every year. The Award consists of a certificate of application and a financial incentive.
