INTRODUCTION

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given priority to the downtrodden students and staffs during IX plan period and given direction to all the universities to establish SC/ST Student Development Cell. The SC/ST Student Development Cell at Davangere University, Davangere, Karnataka State, was established in the year 2009-10. After the establishment of the Cell at Davangere University, it specifically concentrated on the welfare of the P.G SC/ST students. The main aim of the Cell is to monitor the guidelines issued by the MHRD, the University Grants Commission and by the Government of Karnataka from time to time.

 VISION

To be an assisting institution of encouragement to the progressive works of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Students of Davangere University through continually responding to the changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge towards creating a people-centered and ecologically sustainable society that promotes and protects the dignity, equality, social justice and human rights for all, with special emphasis on marginalized and vulnerable groups with special focus on Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Students .

MISSION

In pursuance of its vision, Davangere University organizes teaching, orientation, workshops and other supportive programmes to facilitate the development and competency among Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Students to take up innovative research programmes to reach out to the larger community through extension, at the local, regional, national and international levels.

Facilities by SC/ST Student Development Cell for PG Students and Full time Ph.D. Scholars.

1. Payment of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at the rate of Rs 10,000 PM for first three years and payment of Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) at the rate of Rs 14,000 PM for remaining Two years. ( Ph.D. Full time research Duration 3-5 years)  
2. Payment of contingency at the rate of Rs 10,000 PA for Humanity Science and Rs 15,000 PA for Science and Technology Ph.D. scholars.
3. Payment of project Assistance at the rate of Rs 1000 each to the final year P.G Hostel students.
4. Payment of Extra Boarding and Lodging (EBL) charges at the rate of Rs 2200 PM to PG students.
5. Planning to organise workshops, seminars, special lecture, remedial classes, Competitive examination coaching classes and other Skill Development programs.
6. Payment of TA/DA to the PG students of those who were presented the papers in the workshops/seminars outside the University but within state 
7. Planning to provide Laptops to Full time Ph.D. research scholars and final year PG students.
