About the Department :

Department of Sculpture has been established in the academic year1992, Under Kuvempu University. In the beginning the degree course (BFA) of five years duration has been introduced in the above mentioned department. In the academic year 2005-06 the course was modified as Bachelor of Visual Arts and Semester scheme was introduced in the place of Annual scheme. The semester scheme was continued up to the academic year 2013-14. In the academic year 2014-15 annual scheme was introduced in the place of semester scheme. In 2009 the college came under the jurisdiction of Davangere University and its constituent college due to geographical location. So this department also came under Davangere University. From the academic year 2012 BFA in Sculpture has been renamed as BVA in Sculpture and changed its course duration from 2+3 years (after SSLC) to 1+3 years after PUC / equivalent passing certificate as per UGC norms from academic year 2018-19.

 Vision:

To strive to become a skill and creativity oriented, premier of teaching and research in Visual Arts and to produce the best sculptors in all types of medium like stone, cement, fibre, bronze etc.,

  • Through our constant involvement to train our students to meet the contemporary challenges in industry and academics
  • To establish value based and need based education.
  • Our Department is aiming to contribute a Sustainable Development of Society.


 
Knowledge Sharing:

Department conducted State level cement sculpture camp in the academic year 2015 with collaboration of Karnataka Shilpakala Akademi, Bengaluru.

 Student progression:100% results

 Student achievement:

Students participated in state level and national level sculpture & painting competitions.
