ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Studies in Mater of Physical Education was established in the year 2019-20 in PG Centre of Davangere University, Shivagangotri , Davanagere.
The Physical Education Training Program:
Physical Education is distinguished from other programmes by its primary focus on the body and on physical experience, it is an integral part of the educational process, without which the education of the child is incomplete. The educational balance between academic and co-curricular activities requires an orientation towards inculcation of health consciousness amongst students, which includes the development of physical, mental and social domain of an individual. With the increase in phase of development of the nation, people striving towards attainment of better life and for the attainment of strength to sustain the challenges of life, there is a requirement of urgency to lay a strong foundation and strengthen physical education and sports programme at all levels of the education programme for contributing towards development of human resources who can be assets for nation’s growth and prosperity. This creates a need for the integration of physical education, sports, yoga and recreational activities in the education system for the overall quality of the younger generation.

VISION |
The Department of Physical Education in Davangere University aspires to be one of the Reliable Scientific Departments in the world by going beyond its Scientific and Administrational level and to be Pioneer in the Scientific Research area of benefit of the India. |

MISSION |
Preparing the significant qualified and specialized personnel in the Physical Education and Sports Sciences area is one of the aspiring missions of the department to participate in supporting the scholastic sport and health of society and preparing researchers in the sport sciences area to go higher with Indian sport movement on all levels. |

OBJECTIVES |
1. Preparing Physical Education teachers for secondary schools acquainted with the Physical, Educational and social aspects. 2. Developing Physical Education and Sport movement of the whole governmental sectors cooperated with who concerns (Department of Education, Universities, Youth ministry and Olympic committee. 3. Contributing in Physical Education and Sport Culture promotion and looking forward to making Physical Education and Sport one of the important means of bringing people together. 4. Contributing in serving society through Physical Education and Sport participation. |
