University
Davangere University is one of the youngest affiliating type
of universities in Karnataka.It has Davangere and
Chitradurga districts as its jurisdiction and headquartered
at Davangere. The city is located on National Highway-4 at a
distance of about 265Kms from Bangalore,the state capital of
Karnaataka. Davangere became a separate district from 15th
August 1997,Till then ,it was part of Chitradurga
District.Davangere University was a post-Graduate centre of
the University of Mysore from 1979 to 1987, and later
functioned as P..G Centre of Kuvempu University from 1987 to
2009. Davangere University was established on 18th August
2009 as carved out of Kuvempu University with a vision to
meet the educational aspirations of the people of this
region. The main campus "Shivagangotri" is located at about
12 Kms from Davangere and 60Kms from Chitadurga. Davangere
University has revealed a distinctive academic profile,
integrating excellence in higher education to full fill the
needs of the contemporary modern society and social ethnos
of the region. it has 2 constituent colleges.1 autonomous
college and 110 affiliated colleges offering graduate and
post-graduate course in various disciplines catering to the
educational needs of nearly 400000 students. The University
has 5 faculties namely Arts, Science and Technology
,Commerce And Management, Engineering And Education. It has
7 post Graduate Department of studies & research on the main
Campus offering 8 post Graduate & one P.G diploma courses.
The Constituent university college of Fine Arts
(established in the year 1964) as two Departments and
offering Bachelor of Visual Arts & Master of Fine Arts
courses. The University will be introducing more number of
inter disciplinary, job oriented and social relevant courses
from the academic year 2010-11. Holistic, humane and
sustainable development oriented billing of youth & manpower
is the motto of University. The University intents to have
an inclusive approach and enhance quality in higher
education. Beside this, the core approach would be to
approach towards knowledge generation, knowledge
consumption, knowledge integration and knowledge
dissemination; thus to produce the most competitive youth
force to meet the global challenges. this is possible
because, the university has faculty of high caliber and
dedicated support staff.
